There is a need for government grants and sponsors which provide a permanent long term tricle of finance to provide a foundation on which to build and sustain all artists submissions. Our prospective finance director in the states has been sent this newsletter in the hope that a solution can be found. In the meantime Mr Bailey, founder of StudentsArt.com has said he will continue to run the gallery in a small low-key way as a part-time volunteer, and does not rule out the option of obtaining large amounts of finance for individual art projects where the StudentsArt.com name is kept 'un-promoted' OR to allow the gallery name to be promoted but then restricting the amount of students art which is placed in the gallery, such as selecting only the best quality works, as seen with 'the turner prize'. Although this is an option to do this, mr Dailey is hoping to have the Studentsart.com opportunity permanently available free to all art students, as intended when it was founded, and does not want to restrict the amount of work which is displayed at the gallery when it is a nationally renowned popular household name. Studentsart.com Magazine- Once our funding crisis has been resolved we will be expecting offers from other publishers such as the likes of 'Future Publishing'who are already geared up to publish a magazine, or from student publishers who would like the opportunity. StudentsArt.com already has the content needed to launch a magazine and would be happy to provide it if the publisher agrees to use the StudentsArt.com magazine name. corporate killing - Silent Fear Art students have started to tackle corporations with new art projects such as the latest 'Silent Fear' project from Sean Flynn Sean says this is part of a project exploring the themes and issues of Corporate Killing. The pieces are exploring our relationships with the health and safety signs that surround us daily, yet have steadily declining meaning or significance to us. Emotional Responses have already been received from managers in corporations where trouble shooting has been in operation. The usual initial reaction from managers is that they seem almost threatened or disturbed by it but Managers are encouraged to purchase these posters because it brings to light a different kind of potential accident in the workplace and issues which are usually unspoken. Studentsart.com beleive that it is a good start into improving the health of Director-manager-staff relationships in the workplace where there is usually a divide and animosity particularly when workers are below the poverty line, such as in many businesses in the uk. Other students have also sent in work on this issue such as the new 'Yoodoo' jewellery brand name. Inspired by the Blair witch project, the bewitching Yoodoo symbols are said to increase prosperity and cause pay rises when they are seen by managers. Yoodoo Jewelry/symbol brochures can be ordered in the fashion section and we hope will be available soon at leading fashion retail stores. Prints of Seans work for the workplace will be available from www.Studentsart.com in the 'news art'and 'University' sections at the main menu. competitors -art undervalued Since StudentsArt.com started 'on the net' in 1993 there have been numerous other galleries set up and fail, with the latest attempt being EBay type websites where the artists are encouraged to sell or auction their original works online. Many original works have been seen for sale from as little as £50 from desperate artists who are undervalueing their work.. Our advice to artists is to never sell the original and to always sell copies for at least £30 for an A2 paper print or at least £250 for a canvas print.. Our experience is that if a customer likes a work they will pay much more for just a print If it is only a print that is available. Although it can take a long time to find a customer this does not mean that the work is not worth the going rate. Student artists should hold back and use printing galleries and agents such as studentsart.com in order to maximise the amount received in print and rights sales. Hold Back and always Keep your originals.
